Arm Warmers

It is cold in Austin. Like in the 20's this morning when I was taking the kids to school kind of cold. The perfect time to talk about my favorite accessory of all time. The arm warmer.

Part fingerless glove, part sleeve, the arm warmer lets your fingers be free but still keeps you all nice and cozy. Described as "knitted 'sleeves' worn on the arms" (Full wikipedia definition here) arm warmers are worn by dancers, cyclists, soccer players, and marketing chics.

Typing is not a problem, in fact, I'm typing this blog with my navy and yellow converse one star arm warmers. So really they're perfect for those cold days when you still have to design that powerpoint presentation or achieve your life goal of getting three stars on every level of angry birds for iPad. I'm just sayin'.

How many pairs of arm warmers does a girl need? I've got six. Well, technically one of those is a pair of wrist warmers, the short sleeved cousin of the arm warmer. And I just found some dangerous etsy listings and am eyeing a new pair (or two). So that number is subject to change. Let's just say, I like having variety in my arm warmer selection.

So to wrap it up. When it gets cold -- grab your arm warmers. Stay warm. Stay Cute. Give yourself a big old arm warmer hug.

#6

I was like a kid today at about 3:30 when the doorbell rang. I raced across the house knocking dogs, people, furniture out of my way.... "It's for meeeee!!!!" I screamed as I slid on my socks so I could round the corner more quickly.

See, I had been tracking a certain UPS package that I knew was out for delivery.

Finally, it was here... my very own... Mark Sanchez jersey (#6 Jets QB).

I have been watching Noah walk around for weeks in all of his jerseys... heartbroken that he hates the Jets and doesn't want to have anything to do with Mr. Sanchez. Do I really have a child that is a Brady fan?

So after unsuccessfully hinting for one at Christmas, and going to two different malls only to find they were sold out, I broke down and ordered my jersey online. It is beautiful. I think I love it.

So now I'm obsessing about when to wear it. I have to wear it on Saturday when the Jets are playing, but can I get away with wearing it tomorrow as well? I'm mentally running through all of the people I will see and whether they overlap. And not only when to wear, but how? My jersey is a youth large so it's a little baggy, but more fitted than an adult size I've tried on a couple of different jean/shoe combos with it and definitely think that skinny jeans/new furry top NorthFace boots are the way to go.

But this is way more than a fashion statement. This fall, the guys were watching the HBO series Hard Knocks which this past season centered around the Jets training camp. I was immediately hooked. It's a great show... Crushed when they released Danny Woodhead (later picked up by the Pats) and loving all the Sanchez scenes...

An off-again-on-again Jets fan over the years (think way back, like Wayne Chrebet back), I'm hooked again. Maybe it's that green is my favorite color, or the few years I spent living in NYC, but I love them... J-E-T-S, Jets! Jets! Jets!

Jam Jar

I wish I could say that I was a sophisticated wine kind of girl. Many of my most favorite people are. But no, not me. When I'm in the wine section, I just visually scan all the tops of the bottles until I see my most favorite red and white checked screw top. Ahhhh.... Jam Jar. Officially described as a South African Shiraz, it's an oh so sweet, yummy, and yes, jammy wine.

And check this out... yesterday, they just announced, the Jam Jar bottle is getting a fresh look. Yes, there was a press release about Jam Jar :)

"New York, NY, January 3, 2011 – The popular Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz will have a new look to its name beginning in 2011. A retro- inspired red and white pattern will replace the original checkered gingham on the capsule and carton, while the unique Sweet Shiraz flavor will remain. The fresh design will launch on the 2010 vintage bottlings, set to hit shelves nationwide during the first quarter of the New Year."

So guess what? I'm going to snatch up as many old school jam jars as I can and then excitedly await the arrival of the new bottle. Who wants to join me for a glass?
